Know Your White Sapphire

Sapphire White Sapphire or white or term is’ ColourlessĀ  Sappire Synthetic diamond is one of the jewels Simulants or deliberately made to resemble a diamond. Even the jewel of this type there is no color.

White Saphire Know Your White SapphireWhite sapphire, is actually easy to detect as a diamond imitation, why? we note the RI (Refractive index) or index of refraction of sapphire gem is only 1.762 this means less light emitting aka “melong” like a fish eye that never blinks. Compare with RI from Diamond or Moissanite, look away right?

Mohs hardness scale Safir also only 9 so it scratches easily when tested with a diamond needle test. So for us not be deceived must recognize all kinds of jewels like diamond (Simulant)

Tips for do not be fooled by the diamond Simulant / Imitation

1. See rays / Disversion, diamonds are very shiny. When the gems that have a good cutting but less shining or “melong” should be wary of non diamond. The easiest way is to put the jewel that will be tested on a newspaper, if the writing is clear that it is definitely not a diamond (but if writing is not visible is not necessarily a diamond) Notice, the higher the refractive index of the better light

2. Do not Believe 100% with Diamond Selector, diamond selector work based on the heat conductivity, many gems that the heat conductivity close to diamond. For example, Synthetic Moissanite.

3. Combine Visual inspection (such as point 1) by examination with a diamond selector to reduce risk.

4. The instrument is most appropriate and accurate test with a diamond needle, so use the needle test in testing the authenticity of diamonds.
